VIETNAM ARCHITECTURE EXHIBITION 2010 – VIETARC 2010 (June 3-6, 2010 at SECC)
Vietnam Architecture Exhibition 2010 (Vietarc 2010) is an international event, taking place for the second time in Vietnam. The event in its first year was highly successful and well received by the architecture community, building material companies and other related sectors in Vietnam and the world.
As one of the largest architecture events, Vietarc 2010 aims to be better organized and more professional this year, which clearly shows the exhibitors’ efforts and expectations.
Nearly 50% of the exhibitors are domestic and international architecture companies including Vietnam National Construction Consultants Corporation VNCC, Vietnam Institute of Architecture Urban and Rural Planning, Aedas (UK-Hongkong), CPG, Look, Surbana (Singapore), PTW (Australia), Archetype Group (France), and CMV (Spain). Well-known architects such as Nguyen Van Tat, Ho Thieu Tri, Duong Hong Hien and their firms, and housing design consultant companies such as Nha Vui and Nha Viet will be present.
Along with the architecture companies, Vietarc 2010 also witnesses the strong participation of building material companies as Dong Tam, Eurohome, Tran Duc, Volano, Caesar, Cara, Eurowindow, Akzo Nobel Coatings, Hafele, Kelly-Moore, Cpac, Kotobuki Sea, Legrand, Osram, Saint Gobain, Sekisui, Siamp, Toa and others.
According to the organizers, there are about 120 firms from the architecture, building material, technology, and the real estate sectors participating in Vietarc 2010. About 50% of the foreign participating firms hail from countries such as USA, UK, Holland, Germany, Australia, Spain, Hong Kong, France, Japan, Singapore, Korea, Swiss, China, Thailand, Monaco, Canada and Malaysia.
The biggest highlight at Vietarc 2010 is the special area named “The Open House for Vietnamese Architecture” held by Vietnam Association of Architects and HCM City Association of Architects for the Vietnamese architects. “The Open House for Vietnamese Architecture” will feature 80 to 100 works on display – important design projects selected by professional councils from hundreds of works sent by architects nationwide.
The “International Architecture Forum”, an important activity in the framework of the exhibition with the theme “For the Making of Vietnamese Architecture”, will take place on the second day of the exhibition (June 4, 2010). Well-known local and international architects will explore two topics: “The Future of Existing Cities and New Cities in Vietnam” and “The Landmark Architecture in Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City: The spread of Formalism or an Era of New Ideas?” Both of the topics tie back to the theme of the forum.
During the 4-day exhibition, Vietarc 2010 will also be hosting a gala dinner for local and foreign delegates and exhibitors, seminars and the Vietarc Awards ( two competitions for students).
From the initial success of Vietarc 2009, Vietarc 2010 is poised to meet both the exhibitors’ and organizers’ expectations – to create brand name awareness and develop Vietarc to become the most professional architecture festival in Vietnam.
